River Art Group Gallery

Located in the scenic La Villita Historic Arts Village in downtown San Antonio, Texas, the River Art Group Gallery stands as one of the country's most significant artist cooperatives. Established in the summer of 1947, the group originated from the union of two small groups of artists intending to showcase their work along the rejuvenated San Antonio Riverwalk. Presently, this self-supporting organization comprises over 200 member artists from San Antonio and surrounding communities, who specialize in diverse artistic media. Their gallery, situated within the historic Florian House, displays a broad range of artworks including acrylics, oils, watercolors, pen and ink, pastels, photography, and fine art reproductions crafted from clay, metal, and wood. All operations, from daily management of the gallery to various activities, are carried out by the members themselves. In addition to its physical gallery, the group maintains an online store and organizes exclusive events such as an annual members-only competition and RiverArtober, an outdoor art festival held each October.
