The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center was founded in 1980 as a nonprofit, multidisciplinary organization. Located in the heart of San Antonio's west side, the Guadalupe is the largest community-based, multi-disciplinary organization in the United States.
Our mission is to preserve, promote and develop the arts and culture of the Chicano/Latino/Native American peoples for all ages and backgrounds through public and educational programming in six disciplines: Dance, Literature, Media Arts, Theater Arts, Visual Arts and Xicano Music.
Each year the Guadalupe presents and produces a season of events, exhibitions and festivals, including the San Antonio CineFestival, the Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio, the San Antonio Inter-American Bookfair & Literary Festival, Hecho a Mano/Made by Hand, a season of plays by the resident youth theater company Grupo Animo, the Performing Arts Series, and productions featuring the Guadalupe Dance Company. Each of the six programs offer instructional classes from creative writing to button accordion and ballet folklorico for beginners to master workshops in all the disciplines.
